Gods Remember
By ancient rite and will supreme, Our towers climbed beyond the sky; We wrought the world to match our dream, And taught the stars to wheel on high.
We traced the veins beneath the world, We read each hidden thread of fate; Before our sight the dark uncurled, And time itself would bend and wait.
At our glance, the veils were opened. At our word, the stars aligned. At our sight, all beings knelt. At our whim, we were divine.
Gods we were, and gods remember. Angels now, yet no less grand. Ancient powers, unforgotten, Rise again at our command.
We saw rebellion yet to rise, And knew the hour of our fall; We scried the path with arcane eyes, We heard the people's coming call.
We saw the price in broken lands, In cities burned and bodies slain, When magic surged in warring strands, We could decide who would remain.
We stretched our wings to fullest span, And armed the hands our kind had chained; The war against our kin began, In clash of gods, the world was maimed.
At our glance, the veils were opened. At our word, the stars aligned. At our sight, all beings knelt. At our whim, we were divine.
Gods we were, and gods remember. Angels now, yet no less grand. Ancient powers, unforgotten, Rise again at our command.
Our blades were forged from cast-off crowns, Our wings arose above the field; The nations marched from battered towns, Against our kin who would not yield.
The elder arts consumed the sky; Creation rived as seraphs fought, The mountains broke, the seas ran dry. The heavens quaked at what was wrought.
And when embattled world had cracked, When all laws broke amidst the fight, We strained to keep it all intact, And bore it through the final night.
At our glance, the veils were opened. At our word, the stars aligned. At our sight, all beings knelt. At our whim, we were divine.
Gods we were, and gods remember. Angels now, yet no less grand. Ancient powers, unforgotten, Rise again at our command.
The world lay ripe for us to claim, No rival power dared withstand; We might have donned our crowns again, And swallowed every mortal land.
Instead we placed the light in trust, And let the younger nations rise; Refusing temple, crown, and tithe, We left them earth beneath the skies.
At our glance, the veils were opened. At our word, the stars aligned. At our sight, all beings knelt. At our whim, we were divine.
Gods we were, and gods remember. Angels now, yet no less grand. Ancient powers, unforgotten, Rise again at our command.
Now younger kingdoms call us old, And scarcely heed our ancient art; They cast aside the light we gave, And think our power set apart.
We guard the world we once had freed, We keep the elder arts alive; We guide its course when there is need, That younger realms may yet survive.

What once we were, we yet remain. Still keeping to our ancient vow, The hands that once upheld the world Have still not yet forgotten how.
