About Desiderium
The world ended. Life continued.
The old world is gone. Its inhabitants still live among its consequences.
Desiderium is a fantasy miniatures wargame set in a world that survived its own ending. The World-Cracking lies centuries in the past. Cities have been rebuilt, fields planted, roads reopened, and kingdoms founded among the remains of their predecessors. Generations have made lives beneath the broken monuments of powers that once mistook divinity for permanence.
The world’s wounds remain part of everyday life. A merchant knows which road grows longer in winter. A farmer knows what cannot be planted in ground that remembers being sea. Rivers follow courses into the primordial Void, while cities maintain ancient wards whose makers are long dead. The impossible has become domestic: people have learned where reality can be trusted, where it must be negotiated with, and where they should build elsewhere.
The peoples of Desiderium carry their own answers into this uncertain world. Some fight to preserve what remains, avenge what was taken, and keep loss from becoming erasure. Others build toward futures the world has never contained. Remembrance can sustain loyalty and vengeance alike; hope can inspire renewal or ambitions that destroy whatever stands in their way. Few belong entirely to either disposition, but their deepest longings shape the causes for which they march.
On the tabletop
These conflicts unfold through forces of roughly 25–60 miniatures per side. Armies are compact enough for individual units to matter, yet large enough for maneuver, attrition, and combined tactics.
Warband scale
Each unit has a recognizable place within the force. Units can support one another, exploit openings, and bear the consequences of losses elsewhere, without requiring an enormous collection.
Measured crunch
Positioning, command choices, and unit identity give battles their tactical texture. Desiderium aims to provide enough detail for decisions to carry weight while keeping turns moving and bookkeeping manageable.
A consistent core framework
A shared rules engine provides the foundation. Factions, scenarios, and special abilities build upon it, giving armies their own character and ways of fighting while allowing players to carry their understanding from one battle to the next.
A game still growing
Desiderium is under active development. Its rules, factions, scenarios, and digital tools continue to grow through play and refinement, alongside the stories of the world that remained.
